International Overdose Awareness Day is about prevention and saving lives. International Overdose Awareness Day is held on August 31st each year. Commemorating those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose, it also acknowledges the grief felt by their families and friends. Celebrated around the world, International Overdose Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of overdose and eradicate the stigma attached to it.

CREIDU partners are getting involved in an event to be held at North Richmond Community Health Friday 30th August from 4:30pm – 8pm, 23 Lennox Street, Richmond for International Overdose Awareness Day, 2013.

The event will be open to the general public and will include a light show projected on to our building, live music, free sausage sizzle, information stalls, flame artist, petting zoo and face painting for the kids.

ALL WELCOME.

The event aims to raise awareness and commemorate those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose and acknowledges the grief felt by their families and friends. It also spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable.

Supporting agencies include: Harm reduction Victoria, ANEX, the Burnet Institute, Yarra Drug & Health Forum, YSAS, Fitzroy Legal Service, the Salvation Army and more to follow.
